Choose a well-fitting cat harness and leash
Let your cat sniff the harness first
Put the harness on slowly and calmly
Slip the harness over your cat’s head if it is a head-opening style
Slide each front leg through the leg openings if it is a vest style
Fasten all buckles or Velcro securely
Check that the harness is snug but not tight
Make sure you can fit two fingers between the harness and your cat
Attach the leash to the harness ring
Let your cat wear the harness indoors for a short time first
Reward your cat with treats and praise
Check the fit again before each use
