How to Treat a Mild Concussion?

Stop the activity and rest

Avoid sports, strenuous exercise, and heavy lifting

Use acetaminophen for headache if needed

Avoid alcohol, recreational drugs, and sedatives

Limit screen time, bright lights, and loud noise

Sleep and rest, but check for worsening symptoms

Have someone stay with you for the first 24 hours if possible

Return to normal activities slowly and only as symptoms improve

Avoid driving, biking, or operating machinery until cleared

Seek medical care if symptoms worsen or do not improve

Get emergency help for repeated vomiting, severe headache, confusion, fainting, seizure, weakness, slurred speech, or unequal pupils
