Install the joist framing level, square, dry, and properly spaced

Add blocking where board ends will meet

Use hidden fasteners or composite deck screws approved for composite decking
Start with a straight starter board or perimeter board
Fasten boards to each joist at the recommended spacing
Leave the required expansion gap between boards and at walls or posts
Keep fasteners flush without overdriving
Stagger board end joints over joists
Cut board ends cleanly and seal if recommended by the manufacturer
Use clips, screws, or plug systems as specified for the product
Secure the final board with the proper edge fastening method
Verify all boards are aligned and properly secured after installation
