Observe the fabric’s shape, folds, and direction of drape
Lightly sketch the overall silhouette of the cloth
Mark the main fold lines and tension points
Indicate areas where the fabric pulls, hangs, or bunches
Draw the largest folds first
Add smaller folds inside the larger ones
Keep fold edges flowing and natural
Vary line weight to show depth and overlap
Use softer, lighter lines for distant or relaxed areas
Use darker, sharper lines for creases and shadows
Shade the underside of folds
Leave highlights on raised areas
Follow the fabric’s form with your shading strokes
Show thickness at hems, seams, and edges
Add wrinkles where the fabric compresses
Add smooth curves where the fabric stretches
Refine the pattern or texture if needed
Erase construction lines and clean up the drawing
