Dry or stale bread
Butter or oil
Onion, chopped
Celery, chopped
Salt
Black pepper
Sage or poultry seasoning
Broth or stock
Optional: garlic, parsley, eggs
Preheat the oven to 350°F
Cut bread into cubes
Dry the bread cubes in the oven until lightly crisp
Melt butter in a skillet
Cook onion and celery until softened
Add garlic if using
Mix bread cubes with cooked vegetables in a large bowl
Add salt, pepper, and seasoning
Pour in broth gradually
Add eggs if using
Stir until evenly moistened
Transfer to a greased baking dish
Bake until hot and golden on top
Serve warm
