Gather ice cream, cake layers or cookies, whipped cream, and toppings
Soften the ice cream slightly
Line a cake pan or mold with plastic wrap
Place the first layer of cake or cookies in the pan
Spread a layer of softened ice cream over it
Add another layer of cake or cookies
Repeat layering until the pan is filled
Smooth the top with a spatula
Cover the pan tightly
Freeze until firm
Remove from the pan
Frost with whipped cream if desired
Decorate with fruit, chocolate, sprinkles, or nuts
Slice and serve immediately
