Recut the stems at an angle
Use a sharp, clean knife or scissors
Place them in cold water immediately
Remove any leaves below the waterline
Use a tall, narrow vase
Wrap the stems loosely in paper and let them stand in water for a few hours
Keep them in a cool place away from direct sunlight and heat
Change the water daily
Trim the stems every day or two
Add a flower preservative if available
Support very floppy stems with other upright flowers or a vase insert
Avoid overcrowding the vase
Keep them away from ripening fruit
Refresh the water and remove any wilted leaves promptly
