Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl
Heat the bowl for 3 to 5 minutes until steam forms
Leave the door closed for 5 to 10 minutes
Wipe the interior with a clean cloth or sponge
Repeat with fresh vinegar solution if needed
Place baking soda in a bowl inside the microwave overnight
Wipe the interior again the next day
Clean the door seal, vents, and exterior surfaces
Wash or replace the microwave filter if applicable
Leave the microwave door open for a while to air out
Place activated charcoal or coffee grounds inside to absorb odor
Run the microwave with a bowl of water and lemon slices for a few minutes
Check for any burnt plastic or food stuck to hidden areas
Use a mild dish soap solution for stubborn spots
Avoid using the microwave until the smell is gone completely
