Check the oil level
Check the fuel level
Use fresh fuel
Open the fuel shutoff valve if equipped
Insert the ignition key
Set the choke to full
Set the throttle to fast if equipped
Prime the engine 2 to 3 times if equipped
Hold the safety handle or operator presence control
Pull the recoil starter handle firmly
Repeat until the engine starts
Move the choke gradually to off as the engine warms up
Use electric start if equipped by plugging in the cord and pressing the starter button
Disconnect the power cord after the engine starts
