Mix the flour and salt in a bowl
Add the water gradually and stir until a dough forms

Cut shapes with cookie cutters or a knife
Make a hole near the top with a straw or skewer if you want to hang the ornaments
Place the shapes on a parchment-lined baking sheet
Bake at 200°F to 250°F until hard, usually 2 to 3 hours depending on thickness
Let the ornaments cool completely
Paint or decorate the ornaments if desired
Seal with clear varnish or mod podge if you want them to last longer
Thread ribbon, twine, or string through the hole to hang them
