Do not pull out a tooth yourself
See a dentist or oral surgeon
If you have severe pain, swelling, bleeding, fever, or trouble swallowing or breathing, seek urgent medical care
If a tooth is loose, avoid wiggling or pulling it
Rinse gently with warm salt water
Take over-the-counter pain relief only as directed on the label
Apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek if swollen
Eat soft foods and avoid chewing on the affected side
Keep the area clean by brushing gently
Follow a dentist’s instructions for extraction or treatment
