Make a slip knot on the hook
Hold the yarn and hook comfortably
Insert the hook into the stitch or chain
Yarn over
Pull up a loop
Yarn over again
Pull through both loops on the hook
Repeat in each stitch across the row
To start a new row, chain one and turn the work
