Use a body fat scale or caliper method
Measure body weight
Measure waist, neck, and hip circumference if using a tape-based formula
Apply a body fat formula or calculator
Use the U.S. Navy method for an estimate:
For men: body fat % = 86.010 × log10(waist – neck) – 70.041 × log10(height) + 36.76
For women: body fat % = 163.205 × log10(waist + hip – neck) – 97.684 × log10(height) – 78.387
Use skinfold measurements with calipers and a standard equation
Use bioelectrical impedance from a smart scale or handheld device
Use DEXA, hydrostatic weighing, or Bod Pod for more accurate results
Convert fat mass and total body weight into percentage:
Body fat % = (fat mass ÷ total body weight) × 100
