Keep your dog outside or in a well-ventilated area
Wear gloves and old clothes
Mix 1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon liquid dish soap
Apply the mixture to your dog’s dry coat immediately
Avoid the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears
Work the mixture into the fur for 5 to 10 minutes
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water
Repeat if needed, but do not store the mixture
Wash your dog with a mild pet shampoo after treatment
Dry your dog with clean towels
Wash collars, bedding, and blankets separately
Air out your home and car if exposed
Use pet-safe skunk odor removers if available
Contact a veterinarian if the smell persists or if your dog has eye irritation, vomiting, or skin irritation
