Earn a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Complete a CFP Board-registered education program
Pass the CFP exam
Gain at least 6,000 hours of qualifying professional experience or 4,000 hours through an apprenticeship
Pass the CFP Board’s ethics review
Agree to abide by the CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct
Apply for CFP certification through the CFP Board
Maintain the certification with continuing education requirements
Renew the certification as required by the CFP Board
