How To Calculate Work?

Work = Force × Distance

W = F × d

Use the force component in the direction of motion

W = Fd cos(θ)

F = force

d = distance moved

θ = angle between force and displacement

Unit of work: joule (J)

1 J = 1 N·m

If force and motion are in the same direction, W = Fd

If force is opposite the motion, work is negative

If there is no displacement, work = 0
