How To Cook A Tri Tip?

Pat the tri-tip dry

Trim excess fat if needed

Season generously with salt and pepper

Add garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika if desired

Let it sit at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes

Preheat oven to 425°F or grill to medium-high heat

Sear the tri-tip on all sides until browned

Move to indirect heat or place in the oven

Cook until internal temperature reaches 130°F for medium-rare or 140°F for medium

Remove from heat and rest for 10 to 15 minutes

Slice thinly against the grain

Serve immediately
