Gather materials: thick paper/cardstock, scissors, glue or tape, ruler, pencil, marker, and a printer (optional)
Choose a build style: 2D craft (flat) or 3D block (folded)
For 2D blocks: draw a square for the front face, then add side panels as tabs
For 3D blocks: use a cube template or design one with six square faces and fold tabs
Create a cube template: six equal squares for faces plus tabs on edges
Cut out the template pieces cleanly
Score fold lines with a ruler to keep folds straight
Fold along all score lines to form the cube shape
Glue or tape the tabs to close the cube
Add Minecraft-style textures: print or draw patterns for grass, dirt, stone, wood, etc.
Apply textures to each face before final assembly (or cover faces after assembly)
Build multiple blocks to start a small structure (tower, wall, or house outline)
Make a simple “grass block” set: top grass, sides dirt, bottom dirt
Add details: windows, doors, and steps using additional paper cutouts
Create stairs: use a stair template with correct face sizes and fold lines
Create slabs: use a half-height block template
Create a chest: build a cube with a lid flap and add a paper “metal” band
Create a furnace: build a cube body plus a front panel with a paper “door” and knob
Create a Creeper or character: use a paper head/body template with square pixel patterns
Assemble a scene: stack blocks, align edges, and reinforce corners with extra tabs
Reinforce structures: add internal paper strips or extra tape at joints
Seal or protect: cover completed pieces with a thin clear tape layer or laminate sheets
