Wash and dry your hands
Approach the cockroach slowly
Use a cup or small container if possible
Gently place the container over the cockroach
Slide a stiff piece of paper or cardboard underneath
Lift the container and paper together
Keep the cockroach contained securely
If holding directly, use soft-tipped tweezers or gloved fingers
Pinch very lightly from the sides of the thorax
Avoid squeezing the abdomen
Hold it over a safe surface in case it escapes
Release it quickly if it struggles or appears injured
Wash your hands after handling it
