How To Light A Gas Fireplace?

Read the fireplace’s lighting instructions on the unit or in the manual

Make sure the gas supply is on

Confirm the fireplace and surrounding area are clear of flammable items

Open the fireplace access panel

Turn the control knob to the off position

Wait at least 5 minutes if the fireplace was recently used

Turn the control knob to pilot

Press and hold the control knob or pilot button

Use the igniter button or a long lighter to light the pilot

Keep holding the control knob for 30 to 60 seconds after the pilot lights

Release the knob and confirm the pilot stays lit

Turn the control knob to on

Use the wall switch, remote, or control panel to ignite the main burner

Adjust the flame using the control settings if available

Close the access panel

Turn the fireplace off when finished by using the switch, remote, or control knob

Call a professional if the pilot will not stay lit or you smell gas
