How To Plant Roses?

Choose a sunny location with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily

Select well-draining soil rich in organic matter

Test the soil pH and aim for 6.0 to 6.5

Remove weeds, rocks, and debris from the planting area

Dig a hole wide and deep enough to fit the root ball or bare roots comfortably

Mix compost or aged manure into the removed soil

Soak bare-root roses in water for several hours before planting

Place the rose in the hole with the graft union slightly above soil level

Backfill the hole with the amended soil

Firm the soil gently around the plant

Water regularly during the first growing season

Prune lightly if needed after planting

Protect newly planted roses from extreme heat or frost

Fertilize only after new growth begins
