Wash and chop ripe fruit
Remove seeds, pits, or stems
Measure fruit and sugar
Combine fruit, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot
Cook over medium heat, stirring often
Mash fruit as it softens
Simmer until thickened
Test the set on a chilled plate
Skim off any foam
Pour hot jam into sterilized jars
Seal the jars tightly
Let the jars cool completely
Store in a cool, dark place
