Bite gently on gauze as directed to control bleeding
Rest for the first 24 to 48 hours

Apply ice packs for 15 to 20 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours
Take prescribed or recommended pain medication as directed
Take antibiotics exactly as prescribed, if given
Eat soft foods only for the first few days
Drink plenty of water
Avoid using straws
Avoid smoking or vaping
Avoid alcohol
Avoid spitting forcefully
Avoid vigorous rinsing for the first 24 hours
Rinse gently with warm salt water after 24 hours
Brush teeth carefully, avoiding the extraction sites
Do not touch the wounds with your fingers or tongue
Avoid strenuous exercise for several days
Follow all post-op instructions from your oral surgeon
Attend follow-up appointments if scheduled
Contact your dentist or oral surgeon if pain, swelling, or bleeding worsens
