Align the tow vehicle and trailer in a straight line
Put the tow vehicle in reverse
Place one hand at the bottom of the steering wheel
Turn the steering wheel in the direction you want the trailer to go
Make small steering corrections
Back up slowly
Use your mirrors constantly
Stop and pull forward to straighten out if needed
Have a spotter guide you if possible
Keep the trailer moving in a straight path as much as possible
Avoid sharp steering movements
Practice in an open area before backing in tight spaces
