Clean the mushrooms gently with a dry brush or lightly damp cloth
Slice them into even pieces for faster, more uniform drying
Arrange them in a single layer on a dehydrator tray or baking sheet
Set a dehydrator to 110–125°F
Dry until they are completely brittle and snap cleanly
If using an oven, set it to the lowest possible temperature
Keep the oven door slightly open to allow moisture to escape
Check and turn the mushrooms periodically for even drying
Let the mushrooms cool completely before storing
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark, dry place
Add a desiccant packet if desired to help prevent moisture buildup
