Turn off the gas control and wait 5 minutes
Check for any gas smell before proceeding
Remove the access panel to reach the pilot assembly
Set the gas control to Pilot
Press and hold the reset or pilot button
Use a long lighter or match to ignite the pilot flame
Keep holding the button for 30 to 60 seconds
Release the button and confirm the pilot stays lit
Turn the gas control to On
Replace the access panel
If the pilot will not stay lit or you smell gas, stop and call a qualified technician
