How To Make Applesauce?

Wash and peel apples (optional)

Core apples and cut into chunks

Add apples to a pot with a splash of water

Add sugar or honey to taste (optional)

Add cinnamon or lemon juice (optional)

Simmer on medium-low heat until apples are soft, stirring occasionally

Mash with a potato masher for chunky applesauce

Blend for smooth applesauce

Adjust sweetness and thickness with more sugar and/or a little water

Cool slightly

Serve warm or chill

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 5–7 days

For longer storage, pack hot applesauce into sterilized jars and process in a water bath canner according to jar size and your altitude
