Follow the dose on the label or your doctor’s instructions
Take iron on an empty stomach if tolerated
Take iron with water or orange juice
Avoid taking iron with milk, calcium, antacids, tea, or coffee
Separate iron from calcium supplements, multivitamins, and certain medicines by at least 2 hours
Take iron at the same time each day
If iron upsets your stomach, take it with a small amount of food
Do not crush or chew extended-release iron tablets unless instructed
Keep iron out of reach of children
