Use the dilution equation: C1V1 = C2V2
C1 = concentration of the stock solution
V1 = volume of stock solution used
C2 = concentration of the diluted solution
V2 = final total volume of the diluted solution
Rearrange to find the dilution concentration: C2 = (C1 × V1) / V2
For serial dilutions, calculate each step using the previous dilution as the new stock
For each dilution, multiply the previous concentration by the dilution factor
Dilution factor = V1 / V2
Concentration after dilution = initial concentration × dilution factor
If multiple dilutions are made, multiply all dilution factors together
Final concentration = stock concentration × all combined dilution factors
