How To Find Resistance?

Use Ohm’s law: R = V / I

Measure voltage across the component

Measure current through the component

Divide voltage by current to get resistance

Use a multimeter set to resistance mode

Disconnect power before measuring resistance directly

Place probes across the component terminals

Read the resistance value on the meter

For series circuits, add resistances: Rtotal = R1 + R2 + R3

For parallel circuits, use: 1 / Rtotal = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2 + 1 / R3

Check the resistor color code if applicable

Compare the measured value with the rated value

Account for tolerance when evaluating the result
