Sterilize a pair of tweezers with rubbing alcohol
If the thorn tip is visible, grasp it with the tweezers and pull it out in the same direction it entered
If the thorn is just under the skin, use a sterilized needle to gently lift the tip out
Wash the area again after removal
Apply antiseptic or antibiotic ointment
Cover with a clean bandage
Seek medical help if the thorn is deep, near the eye, cannot be removed, or the area becomes red, swollen, or painful
