Measure the window width and decide the curtain width needed (typically 1.5–2.5× the window width for fullness)
Determine the curtain height (mounting height above the window and desired bottom hem clearance)
Choose the mounting method: wall-mounted rod, ceiling-mounted track, or tension rod
Mark the rod/track position on the wall or ceiling using a level
Locate studs (for wall mounting) or confirm suitable anchors for drywall
Install wall brackets/track supports at the marked positions
Pre-assemble the curtain hardware (hooks, rings, grommets, or tabs) according to the curtain style
Thread curtains onto the rod or attach to the track
Slide the curtain along the rod/track to confirm smooth movement
Mount the rod onto the installed brackets or secure the track to the ceiling/marks
Attach end caps and adjust curtain fullness evenly
Hang tiebacks (if used) and set the curtains to the desired open position
Check alignment and symmetry, then tighten all fasteners
If hems are too long, adjust hems or use curtain weights/hem tape as needed
