Use only edible mushrooms from a trusted source
Clean the mushrooms gently with a brush or damp cloth
Chop or tear the mushrooms into small pieces
Add water to a pot and bring it to a gentle simmer
Add the mushrooms to the simmering water
Simmer for 15 to 30 minutes
Strain the liquid into a cup or teapot
Add honey, lemon, or ginger if desired
Drink while warm
Discard the used mushroom pieces
