Rinse 1 cup of rice until the water runs mostly clear
Add the rinsed rice to the crock pot
Add 2 cups of water or broth
Add a pinch of salt if desired
Stir once to combine
Cover with the lid
Cook on high for 1.5 to 2.5 hours or on low for 2.5 to 4 hours
Check for doneness near the end of cooking
Turn off the crock pot when the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving
