Eat or drink 15–20 grams of fast-acting carbohydrates
Drink fruit juice
Drink regular soda
Take glucose tablets
Take glucose gel
Eat hard candies
Eat honey or sugar
Eat raisins
Eat a small snack with carbohydrates and protein if the next meal is not soon
Recheck blood sugar after 15 minutes
Repeat fast-acting carbohydrates if blood sugar is still low
Seek emergency help if symptoms are severe or the person cannot swallow
Use glucagon if prescribed and the person is unconscious or unable to take anything by mouth
