Turn off the sprinkler system and shut off the water supply
Locate the damaged sprinkler head
Dig around the head carefully to expose it
Remove dirt and debris from around the head
Unscrew the old sprinkler head from the riser
Check the riser and fitting for damage
Wrap plumber’s tape around the riser threads if needed
Screw the new sprinkler head onto the riser
Make sure the new head matches the type and spray pattern
Adjust the head to the correct height and direction
Turn the water back on and test the system
Check for leaks and proper spray coverage
Refill the hole with soil and pack it down gently
