How To Calculate Slope?

Identify two points on the line: ((x_1, y_1)) and ((x_2, y_2))

Use the slope formula: (m = dfrac{y_2 – y_1}{x_2 – x_1})

If (x_2 = x_1), the line is vertical and slope is undefined

If the points are given as ((x, y)) pairs, substitute them directly into (m = dfrac{Delta y}{Delta x})

If given an equation in slope-intercept form (y = mx + b), the slope is the coefficient of (x) (the value of (m))

If given two points and you compute:

(Delta y = y_2 – y_1)

(Delta x = x_2 – x_1)

(m = Delta y / Delta x)
