Rinse the figs gently under cool water
Pat them dry with a clean towel
Trim off the stem if desired
Eat them whole with the skin on
Cut them in half or quarters if preferred
Scoop out the flesh with a spoon if very ripe
Pair them with cheese, yogurt, or nuts if desired
Add them to salads, toast, or desserts if desired
Eat them fresh and soon after cutting
Discard any figs that are moldy or overly mushy
