Complete Form DS-11 if applying for your first U.S. passport, if your previous passport was issued when you were under 16, if it was lost or stolen, or if it was expired for more than 5 years
Gather proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a certified birth certificate or naturalization certificate
Gather a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID
Bring a photocopy of the front and back of your ID
Provide one passport photo that meets U.S. passport requirements
Pay the required passport fees
Apply in person at an authorized passport acceptance facility in Washington State, such as a post office, county office, or library
Make an appointment if the acceptance facility requires one
Submit your application, documents, photo, and payment in person
If applying for a passport book and passport card, request both on the application
Track your application status after submission
Wait for processing and delivery of your passport by mail
Use expedited service if you need your passport faster
Apply by mail only if you qualify to renew using Form DS-82
Replace a lost or stolen passport by submitting the required replacement application and supporting documents
