Measure the length of each item in feet
Add all lengths together
If measurements are in inches, divide total inches by 12 to get linear feet
If measurements are in yards, multiply yards by 3 to get linear feet
For multiple pieces, sum each piece’s length in feet
For irregular shapes, measure the straight-line length needed
Use the same unit for all measurements before adding
Linear feet = total length measured in a straight line
