Both parties must appear together in person to apply for a marriage license
Bring valid photo identification for both parties
Provide your Social Security number if you have one
If either party was previously married, provide the exact date the marriage ended
Apply for the marriage license at a Florida county clerk of court office
Complete the marriage license application
Pay the marriage license fee
If you are a Florida resident and complete a premarital preparation course, you may qualify for a reduced fee and no waiting period
If you do not complete a premarital preparation course, wait 3 days after the license is issued before marrying, unless exempt
Use the license within 60 days of issuance
Have the marriage ceremony performed by an authorized officiant
Ensure the officiant completes and returns the license to the clerk for recording
Obtain a certified copy of the marriage certificate if needed after the marriage is recorded
