Sketch the overall wing shape (almond or teardrop silhouette)
Draw the wing’s center line from base to tip
Add the main “primary” feather lines radiating from the base to the outer edge
Add the “secondary” feather lines between the primaries and the lower edge
Block in the feather masses with simple overlapping curves
Define feather tips with tapered shapes toward the outer edge
Add a few larger feather segments near the base for structure
Draw smaller feather lines in the outer area to increase detail
Indicate the wing membrane/skin regions near the base with lighter strokes
Establish overlapping layers by drawing some feather lines over others
Add a clear leading edge (front) and trailing edge (back) contour
Add subtle grooves/creases along feather shafts for form
Shade the underside darker and the top lighter for volume
Use a soft gradient on large feather masses, then sharpen edges selectively
Add highlights on the most raised feather ridges
Refine the silhouette by cleaning stray lines and thickening key contours
Erase or lighten construction lines once the feather structure is solid
Match the wing angle to the body’s perspective and connect the base to the shoulder/torso line
