Wash your hands and clean your face
Wrap ice in a clean cloth or use an ice roller
Do not apply ice directly to the skin
Gently move the ice over the face in small circles
Focus on one area at a time
Keep it on each area for 1 to 2 minutes
Limit total icing time to 5 to 10 minutes
Stop if you feel pain, burning, or numbness
Pat the face dry after icing
Apply moisturizer after icing if needed
Use once or twice a day at most
Avoid icing broken, irritated, or very sensitive skin
