How To Grow Marigolds?

Choose a sunny location with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight

Use well-draining soil

Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, or start seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks earlier

Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep

Space plants according to the variety, usually 6 to 18 inches apart

Water after planting and keep soil lightly moist until seedlings are established

Water at the base of the plant when the top inch of soil is dry

Avoid overwatering

Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage more blooms

Fertilize lightly if needed

Pinch back young plants to promote bushier growth

Protect from slugs, aphids, and spider mites if needed

Harvest flowers when fully open if using for cutting or drying

Remove plants at the end of the growing season after frost kills them
