Place eggs in a microwave-safe bowl
Cover the eggs completely with water
Add 1/2 teaspoon salt to the water
Pierce each egg yolk and white with a pin or egg piercer if the eggs are already cracked open; do not microwave whole unpierced eggs
Cover the bowl with a microwave-safe plate or lid, leaving a small vent
Microwave on medium power for 3 to 4 minutes
Let the eggs stand in the hot water for 2 to 3 minutes
Check for doneness
If needed, microwave in 30-second intervals until set
Remove the eggs carefully
Transfer the eggs to cold water or an ice bath
Peel when cooled
