How To Cite A Quote APA?

Use the author’s last name, year, and page number in parentheses after the quote

Format: “Direct quote” (Author, Year, p. Page)

For a quote from a source with two authors, use both last names: (Author & Author, Year, p. Page)

For a quote from a source with three or more authors, use the first author’s last name followed by et al.: (Author et al., Year, p. Page)

If the quote spans multiple pages, use pp. instead of p.: (Author, Year, pp. 12–13)

If the author’s name is mentioned in the sentence, put only the year and page number in parentheses: Author (Year) said, “Quote” (p. Page)

For a quote from a webpage with no page number, use a paragraph number, section heading, or other locator if available: (Author, Year, para. 4)

Include the full source in the reference list at the end of the paper
