Move the person to a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned place
Call emergency services immediately
Remove excess clothing
Cool the body rapidly with cool water, wet cloths, or ice packs on the neck, armpits, and groin
Fan the person while cooling them
If conscious and able to swallow, give small sips of cool water
Do not give alcohol or caffeine
Do not use very cold water if it causes shivering
Monitor breathing and consciousness
Place the person on their side if vomiting or unconscious but breathing
Stay with the person until help arrives
