How To Hang Drywall On Ceiling?

Measure the ceiling and cut drywall sheets to fit

Mark ceiling joist locations on the walls and drywall edges

Lift the first sheet into place with a drywall lift or helpers

Position the sheet perpendicular to the joists

Leave a small gap around the room perimeter

Fasten the drywall to the joists with drywall screws

Start screws near the center of the sheet and work outward

Space screws about 12 inches apart on ceilings

Keep screw heads slightly below the surface without breaking the paper

Stagger end joints between adjacent sheets

Cut openings for lights, vents, and fixtures before hanging

Use T-braces or temporary supports if needed

Hang remaining sheets tightly but without forcing them

Tape and mud the seams after all sheets are installed

Sand the joints smooth after the compound dries
