Ensure the pistol is unloaded and the magazine is removed
Point the pistol in a safe direction
Field strip the pistol according to the manufacturer’s manual
Clean all parts before applying lubricant
Apply a small drop of lubricant to the slide rails
Apply a small drop to the barrel exterior where it contacts the slide
Apply a light film to the barrel hood and locking surfaces
Apply a tiny amount to the recoil spring guide rod if specified by the manual
Apply a small amount to pivot points and contact surfaces only if needed
Wipe off any excess lubricant
Reassemble the pistol
Cycle the slide several times to distribute the lubricant
Check for smooth operation
Avoid over-lubricating
Avoid getting lubricant inside the barrel, chamber, magazine, or firing pin channel
Follow the manufacturer’s lubrication points and recommended lubricant type
