How To Actually Stop A Nosebleed?

Sit upright and lean slightly forward

Pinch the soft part of your nose closed with your thumb and index finger

Keep constant pressure for 10 to 15 minutes without checking

Breathe through your mouth

Spit out any blood that goes into your mouth

Apply a cold compress to the bridge of your nose if available

If bleeding continues, repeat firm pressure for another 10 to 15 minutes

Avoid lying down

Avoid tilting your head back

Avoid blowing, picking, or rubbing your nose for several hours after bleeding stops

Seek urgent medical help if bleeding lasts more than 20 minutes, is very heavy, happens after injury, or you feel faint or weak
